Importing data from NAIC Toolkit.
Updated 17 Jul 2001

To import data directly from NAIC Toolkit go to the "VL Data"
sheet, enter a ticker symbol, and click the "Import from NAIC
Toolkit" button. This gets data directly from the Toolkit
database (without going through an SSG file).

The first time you do this you will get a dialog box titled
"Select Toolkit Database to Use". This is used to locate and
select the Toolkit database file on your computer. Unless you
have otherwise configured Toolkit, the database file will be
named TK.MDB and will be located in the same directory where
Toolkit was installed. Once you have selected the database,
it's name and location will appear just below the "Import from
NAIC Toolkit" button and will be used when you import from
Toolkit again. The database name and location can be edited
or erased if you want to used a different Toolkit database.

Some things to note ...

You can't import data from Toolkit while the Toolkit program is
running. (Toolkit opens it's database for "exclusive" access.)
If you try, you will get a warning dialog. If you quit Toolkit
and then click "Retry" in the warning dialog, the import will
work.

Does importing directly from Toolkit get more information than
importing from an SGG file? Not really. All the company data
and SSG judgement items (Outliers, Preferred Proceedure, etc.)
are imported just the same in either case. If you have made
adjustments to reposition the Sales, PTP, or EPS lines on the
SSG Visual Analysis chart, importing from Toolkit will duplicate
those adjustements on the Quality sheet Growth chart. Such
adjustments are lost when importing from an SSG file.
